Local MSP for the Linlithgow Constituency, Fiona Hyslop, highlights the milestone nationwide rollout of the Carer Support Payment.

The Carer Support Payment, is a payment of £81.90 per week, paid by Social Security Scotland.

The payment has been introduced in phases since November 2023 and is now available to people living in every local authority in Scotland.

Commenting Fiona said:

“Unpaid carers perform an important role in communities across West Lothian and I am pleased to see the Scottish Government recognising this and providing vital support.

“This support is available to those who provide 35 or more hours of care a week to someone who receives disability benefits.

“I am pleased to see the Scottish Government delivering the Carer Support Payment, the 14 th benefit provided by Social Security Scotland and providing this essential support to unpaid carers across West Lothian.

“I would encourage any Carers in my Constituency to check their eligibility for the Carer Support Payment and apply for the benefit online by visiting mygov.scot/benefits.”
