CM tells officials to achieve revenue targets set for fiscal year

Noting that the State ranked second in the GST collection, the Chief Minister says efforts should be made to mop up more taxes

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Tuesday reviewed the progress of revenue-generating departments of Commercial Taxes, Excise, and Stamps and Registration and said the commercial tax collection stood at ₹53,103 crore as against the target of ₹56,317 crore as on November 2024, achieving the target of 94%.

The Commercial Taxes Department has been given a target of ₹84,475 crore for the current fiscal year. Collection of taxes was low in Mysuru and Malnad regions and officials have been instructed to achieve the target in the coming months of 2024-25.

Plug leakage

The Chief Minister instructed officials to plug any leakage and step up vigilance to reach the target, specifically in Bengaluru.

Noting that the State ranked second in the GST collection, the Chief Minister said efforts should be made to mop up more taxes. GST collection stood at ₹13,722 crore as on November 30, 2024.

In the Excise Department, the collection was recorded at ₹23,600 crore as against the target of ₹38,525 crore, achieving a target of 61.26%. Mr. Siddaramaiah told officials to take steps for filling Group C category vacancies.

Stamps and registration

In the Stamps and Registration Department, he said the collection was ₹15,160.97 crore as against the target of ₹26,000 crore for the fiscal year, achieving the target of 58%.

The Chief Minister told officials of the Revenue Department to eliminate bottlenecks in the e-khata system.

In the Mines and Geology Department, he said the collection was recorded at ₹4,862 crore as against the target of ₹9,000 crore for the fiscal year.
