Himachal Pradesh CM Sukhvinder Sukhu asks Centre for special industrial package
Mr. Sukhu, who met Union Minister Piyush Goyal in Delhi, also sought the restart of transport subsidy scheme for hilly terrains and funds for industrial infrastructure.
by The Hindu Bureau · The HinduHimachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has urged the Centre to give a special industrial package for the State along the lines of such packages for Jammu and Kashmir and northeastern states.
The Chief Minister met Union Minister for Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal in New Delhi late on Thursday (November 28, 2024) and requested for the package to ensure balanced regional development.
Mr. Sukhu also sought restart of transport subsidy scheme for hilly terrains such as Himachal Pradesh considering the high logistic cost incurred on the rugged terrain. It would go a long way in promoting industrial production and boosting exports, he said.
He asked for funds for industrial infrastructure development projects, quality testing labs and certification labs for export promotion etc. The Chief Minister also pressed for the release of pending capital subsidy under the Industrial Development Scheme and sanctioning of pending cases under the scheme.
In a separate development, the Himachal Pradesh Government issued a notification directing Deputy Commissioners (DCs) across the State to listen to public grievances twice weekly in their offices every Monday and Thursday.
