IT Minister urges Wipro to partner with Skills university
by The Hindu Bureau · The HinduIT and Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu has urged Wipro to partner with Young India Skills University.
The Minister conveyed this to Wipro’s Chief Financial Officer Raghav Swaminathan who met him at the Secretariat in Hyderabad on Friday and briefed him about the company’s operations and progress in the city.
Mr. Sridhar Babu emphasised the need for industry-driven training programmes at the University and urged Wipro to train and recruit talent tailored to its needs. Highlighting similar efforts, he mentioned that pharma major Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories is already providing customised training to 80 unemployed youth to meet its specific requirements.
He also urged Wipro to consider setting up FMCG production units in Tier-2 cities, leveraging the local talent and infrastructure. The State government is developing mini-industrial hubs for women entrepreneurs in all the 117 assembly constituencies. These hubs aim to provide rural populations with employment opportunities through the establishment of industries utilising the existing infrastructure, the Minister’s office said in a release.
Wipro’s Corporate Affairs Representative Vinay Rawat and Telangana State Industrial Infrastructure Corporation CEO V. Madhusudhan were present during the meeting.
