Karnataka sees 50 lakh year-on-year increase in air passengers

Karnataka is third among States that witnessed a steep increase in air travel. In 2023-24, a total of 3.65 crore (3,65,06,323) passengers travelled by air from Karnataka, compared to 3.15 crore (3,15,05,960) passengers in 2022-23, a year-on-year increase of 50 lakh (50,00,363) passengers.  

Minister of State for Civil Aviation Murlidhar Mohol provided data on States that saw the highest increase in air travel during the ongoing session of Parliament. Of the 3.15 crore passengers in 2022-23, three crore were domestic passengers, and 12 lakh were international passengers. Likewise, in 2023-24, of the total 3.65 crore passengers, 3.51 crore were domestic passengers, and 13 lakh were international passengers.

Karnataka has nine airports, which are Kempegowda International Airport, Mangaluru International Airport, Belagavi, Hubballi, Mysuru, Shivamogga, Kalaburagi, Bidar and Vijayanagar airports. Among the States, Delhi topped the chart with 6.32 crore passengers in 2023-24 and 5.72 crore passengers in 2022-23, followed by Maharashtra’s 5.9 crore passengers in 2023-24 and 5 crore passengers in 2022-23.
