Trials on spot bill payment scheme successful, says KSEB

Scheme to be extended across State soon

The Kerala State Electricity Board on Friday said it had successfully tried out a system which allowed electricity consumers to pay their bills as soon as the meter reading was done.

The scheme allowed consumers to pay their bills using the personal digital assistant (PDA) machine used by the meter readers. The bills could be paid using debit/credits cards or by scanning QR code using the Bhim, Google Pay, PhonePe or Paytm apps, the KSEB said.

The spot bill payment scheme, implemented with the support of Canara Bank, would not require consumers to pay an additional fee.

The KSEB had kicked off trials in the Vellayambalam and Ulloor electrical sections in Thiruvananthapuram on November 15. The scheme would be extended across the State, the KSEB said.
