Rajasthan CM transfers ₹700 crore to bank accounts of over 70 lakh farmers

CM Bhajan Lal Sharma assures farmers and cattle rearers of government support and welfare initiatives at Kisan Sammelan

Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma on Friday (December 13, 2024) said the State government was working for welfare of farmers and cattle rearers and assured them that their interests would be protected in all circumstances. Mr. Sharma said the dream of “developed Rajasthan” would come true only when the farmers are prosperous.

Mr. Sharma was addressing a Kisan Sammelan (farmers’ conference) in Ajmer, organised as part of the Bharatiya Janata Party government’s first anniversary celebrations. He transferred ₹700 crore as the second instalment of the Kisan Samman Nidhi to the bank accounts of over 70 lakh farmers and ₹200 crore to 3.25 lakh cattle breeder as an assistance of ₹5 per litre of milk.

Besides, ₹29 crore were given as direct benefit transfer to 15,983 farmers for drip and sprinkler irrigation equipment, ₹96 crore to 14,200 farmers for various works such as fencing, laying of pipelines, farm pond construction, organic manure and agricultural equipment, and ₹80 crore for installation of 8,000 solar pumps.

Mr. Sharma honoured 10 progressive farmers making innovations in agriculture under the Centrally sponsored ATMA Yojana on the occasion. He said as many as 2,500 memorandums of understanding for investment of ₹58,000 crore in the agriculture sector had been signed in the Rising Rajasthan Global Investment Summit held in Jaipur recently.

“Our government has taken decisions such as distribution of short-term crop loans of ₹20,000 crore to 30 lakh farmers and eight lakh soil health cards, installation of 26,000 solar plants, allotment of land for food parks at 31 places, and purchase of wheat, moong, groundnut, and mustard at minimum support prices,” Mr. Sharma said. These steps would help bring prosperity to farmers, he added.

The Chief Minister interacted with the farmers who have benefited from the State government’s subsidies in various schemes through video conferencing. He also launched a livestock insurance scheme, camel conservation and development mission, installation of cow dung log machines in 100 gaushalas and the establishment of 1,000 new milk collection centres along with the installation of 200 new bulk milk coolers.

Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari, Water Resources Minister Suresh Singh Rawat, Assembly Speaker Vasudev Devnani, and Farmers’ Commission chairperson C.R. Chaudhary were among those who attended the conference.
