The State government has sanctioned ₹3,283 crore more for the three-tier panchayats and urban local bodies, Finance Minister K.N. Balagopal said on Thursday.

The allocation consists of ₹1,905 crore as the second instalment of the development fund and ₹1,377 crore, which forms the third instalment of the maintenance grant.

Under the two components, grama panchayats will receive ₹1,929 crore, block panchayats ₹320 crore, district panchayats ₹375 crore, municipalities ₹377 crore and Corporations, ₹ 282 crore.

The State government is committed to ensuring full allocation to local bodies notwithstanding the financial crunch triggered by Union government policies. In the current financial year, the government has so far sanctioned ₹9,800 crore to local bodies, he said.
