On Tuesday (December 10, 2024), a Hyderabad resident received a message informing him about an amount of ₹1.9 crore had been debited from the account without authorisation. Panicked, the victim immediately lodged a complaint with the 1930 call centre and the timely intervention of officials resulted in saving ₹1.1 crore.

The 1930 team registered the complaint and followed it up with Punjab National Bank (PNB) where ₹75.69 lakh was intercepted. Another ₹35 lakh transferred from PNB to other banks was tracked by the officials. Their coordination with nodal teams from AU Small Finance Bank, Punjab National Bank, Bank of Baroda and Indian Bank led to the freezing of the funds.
