Residents demand transport facility to Periyanaickenpalayam railway station

Periyanaickenpalayam residents have urged authorities to provide public transportation facilities to the railway station.

Periyanaickenpalayam Railway Station is located two km away from town. Earlier, the TNSTC used to operate two bus service trips to the railway station by extending the Mettuppalayam - Palamalai bus service up to Periyanaickenpalayam railway station. This was stopped during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Trains used to be the preferred mode of transport by the public, considering the low fares and the short commute time between Mettuppalayam and Coimbatore.

Ten Mainline Electrical Multiple Units (MEMU) services are currently operated on the Coimbatore - Mettuppalayam railway line, and passengers have called for the TNSTC to extend its bus services to Periyanaickenpalayam railway station.
