Even as the probes into the alleged irregularities in the allotment of sites under 50:50 scheme by Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) were under way, the State government has issued orders cancelling the authority’s resolution dated March 21, 2023, which paved the way for allotment of 48 sites in Dattagalli in Mysuru.

Sources in Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) confirmed the receipt of an order issued by the Urban Development Department on November 30, 2024, but clarified that the sites had not been sanctioned under the 50:50 scheme that was now under the scanner of various probe agencies.

The MUDA Board meeting held on March 21, 2023, had passed a resolution under subject 13 (4) authorising the then Commissioner Dinesh Kumar pertaining to a “long-pending issue” in the wake of a court order in favour of MUDA. Based on the resolution, a total of 48 sites had been allotted by MUDA in Dattagalli area and khatas too had been issued subsequently.

Deputy Commissioner of Mysuru G. Lakshmikant Reddy, who is also the Chairman of MUDA, said all the decisions taken on the basis of the MUDA resolution dated March 21, 2023, will be cancelled.

The area in Dattagalli where the sites had been allotted is vacant land.

The Urban Development Department’s order cancelling the MUDA resolution comes after a show cause notice had been issued to the then Commissioner of MUDA on April 8, 2024. The order had also rejected the then Commissioner’s April 20, 2024, reply, contending that the resolution violated the Karnataka Urban Development Authority Act 1987 and the rules.
