NatWest issues warning over cash withdrawal limits

by · Manchester Evening News

NatWest has issued a warning to its customers about cash withdrawal limits. The bank's response came after a customer asked over X: "If I've already withdrawn my maximum amount from an ATM but need to get more cash before my local branch opens, can I do cashback in a shop?"

NatWest clarified that the customer wouldn't be able to get cashback in this case as "it would still count towards this limit". The daily withdrawal limit for NatWest customers varies depending on their account type.

However, the bank states on its website that "under certain circumstances" a higher withdrawal limit can be arranged. These are the default withdrawal limits:

  • Student, Graduate, Savings, Adapt or Select Accounts - £250
  • Foundation, Reward, Silver or Platinum Accounts - £300
  • Black Account - £750

Additionally, up to £130 can be withdrawn once every 24 hours using the Get Cash feature of the NatWest app. You can make a maximum of two Get Cash requests each 24 hours.

In another recent banking query, a Barclays customer questioned why they were receiving texts asking them to confirm their tax residency information. The customer had received two text messages, one asking them to "reply 'yes', or 'no'" to confirm if they are "solely a tax resident of the UK and is not a US citizen", and a follow-up message urging them to respond.

In response, Barclays stated: "We’re legally required to collect tax residency information for any customers that have access to the income and assets associated with our accounts." The bank added: "Rest assured the SMS is legitimate, please respond YES/NO based on your tax residency status. Any costs incurred responding will be due to your current network provider."
