Holiday hack to get '64 days off work by booking just 29' in 2025
by Lee Grimsditch · Manchester Evening NewsSmart employees are being encouraged to get their 2025 annual leave requests in now. This is down to search interest in holidays and 'annual leave' increasing in December and January as workers being planning their leave for the upcoming year.
Researchers at New Millenia have done the sums and say they can show you how to get the most out of your annual leave in 2025. The payroll experts say if holidays are booked carefully in advance, workers can bag themselves a sweet 64 days off by booking just 29 days of annual leave.
The company say people who work five days a week are entitled to a minimum of 28 days annual leave, but with most workplaces not allowing multiple employees to be absent at the same time, being strategic and booking your annual leave in advance is the best way to enjoy longer breaks.

Commenting on the findings, Paul O’Rourke, Operations Director at New Millennia said: "All workers are entitled to annual leave, but with so many date options in the year, choosing the best times to book time off can be a daunting task. Our research gives clever hacks to maximise your annual leave in 2025.
"Just be aware that some of the more popular weeks can book up fast, so get your requests in before your colleagues! With 16 consecutive days off work, it’s likely that April (Easter) will be the most popular stretch to book off."
According to New Millenia, how to maximise the amount of consecutive days off for each month next year can be seen below.
January (New Year) - 5 DAYS
They say: "Make sure to book off the 2nd and 3rd January to get five days off after the New Year bank holiday. What’s better, booking flights in January is usually cheaper, so it makes it a great time to book a holiday."
April - 16 DAYS
They say: "In order to get 16 [consecutive] days off, book off Monday April 14th through to Thursday April 17th (the week of Good Friday). With Easter Monday being the following week, you could also book off Tuesday April 22nd until Friday April 25th – totalling 16 consecutive days off."
May - 18 DAYS (9 days x2)
They say: "To get nine [consecutive] days off in May, book off the 6th, 7th, 8th and 9th May, the days following the May Bank Holiday. But to get an additional nine [consecutive] days off in May, make sure to book off the 27th, 28th, 29th and 30th May, the days following the Spring Bank Holiday."
August - 9 DAYS
They say: "Due to the summer Bank Holiday, you can get another nine [consecutive] days off work by booking off the 26th, 27th, 28th and 29th August."
December - 16 DAYS
They say: "In order to prepare for a long break over Christmas 2025, book off the 22nd, 23rd, 24th, 29th, 30th and 31st December – as well as 2nd January. This will mean that you’ll be able to relax for sixteen consecutive days."
