The pretty little UK seaside town with £177k homes named best place to relocate to
A beautiful seaside town on the North Yorkshire coast has claimed the top spot as being one of the best places to relocate to - and it's not hard to see why.
by Beth Tanner · The MirrorAn area that’s known for being a popular seaside escape has been named as one of the UK’s prettiest seaside towns - it’s also been dubbed one of the best places to relocate to.
Renowned for its cute, quirky beach huts and historic Victorian-era pier, Saltburn-by-the-Sea in North Yorkshire has been named as the perfect place to move to, thanks to a combination of its breath-taking views and low property prices. Located close to Middlesbrough and just a few miles from bustling city Newcastle upon Tyne, property buyers can snatch up a new home for £105,000 less than the national average.
A new study, which was commissioned by Hammonds Furniture, said Saltburn is: "famous for its Saltburn Beach Huts and several ‘instagrammable’ nature parks’". The fact it is nestled between Durham and North Yorkshire also offers convenient transport links. They also explain that the small seaside town offers ‘houses which cost more than a third less than the national average’, making it a great choice for anyone looking for a home in a beautiful location without a premium price tag.
The furniture brand surveyed 2,000 adults from across the UK, in a bid to determine the top 50 most beautiful towns and villages, and then compared the house prices in each location against the national average, allowing them to work out which locations offered the best value for money, with Saltburn-by-the-Sea landing in the top spot.
For anyone craving the fresh sea air, the seafront has an abundance of charm. Water balanced cliff lifts transport people up and down the coastline, and Saltburn is also home to Yorkshire's last remaining pier. Like many other up-and-coming seaside towns, it has an emerging arts scene, plenty of places to eat out, and water sports.
So, if you’re looking to move to an area with outstanding views without the need to pay a premium price tag, then Saltburn-by-the-Sea is a good option to consider. According to Rightmove, the average house price was £281,564. This, it said, was a 12% increase from the previous year, and a 24% hike from 2019's peak of £226,270.
