Urgent warning issued to UK airport holidaymakers over rogue parking firms
Probe finds airport parking firms are 'treating vehicles with contempt'
by Graham Hiscott · The MirrorTravellers have been told to look out for rogue parking firms at airports. The warning comes after a probe found vehicles being driven above the speed limit or in one case left in a back garden.
Which? looked at various companies operating at London Gatwick and Heathrow. At the latter, its GPS tracking found Quick Park driving one car almost 70mph in a 50mph zone.
They then parked it in an abandoned rectory’s garden and took £4.50 in change. Mayfair Parking was caught speeding four times in a 10-mile trip, also stealing £4. Rory Boland of Which? said: “We revealed rogue meet and greet operators treating vehicles and property with contempt.”
Quick Park did not respond to a comment request. Mayfair disputed the findings but said it would apologise if money was stolen and take remedial action.
