Users have been having issues today with Microsoft services including Exchange Online, Teams and Outlook.

People have been highlighting a range of problems on social media including an inability to send emails, sites crashing and error pages appearing on screens.

In a statement on X, Microsoft said it has identified a recent change which it believes has resulted in impact.

"We've started to revert the change and are investigating what additional actions are required to mitigate the issue," the company added.

Earlier, Microsoft said it was investigating an issue impacting users attempting to access Exchange Online or functionality within Microsoft Teams calendar.

"While we continue to work on mitigating the issue, we've added a comprehensive list of impacted services and scenarios to the more info section," the company said.

The website Down Detector, which tracks outages, recorded a surge of users reporting issues earlier today.

In July, a global IT outage involving Microsoft caused widespread disruption.

Flights were grounded, businesses impacted and broadcasters taken off-air after an update from cybersecurity company CrowdStrike led to Windows crashing on computers around the world.
