Inside former TSB bank building after couple completely transform it

A Liverpool couple have transformed an "iconic" bank building in the city into a new "contemporary-style" salon. For decades, the former TSB Bank building on Speke Road welcomed people from Garston and beyond.

Back in September 1939, the site opened as Liverpool Savings Bank, later becoming a TSB Bank until June 2022. For the last seven years, husband-and-wife Laina and Michael Foott have rented the building next door to the bank, running Anya Hairdressing & Beauty, a salon named after their daughter.

Last month, the ECHO reported how Michael saw the site was up for auction and the couple got the idea to transform the old bank building into a stylish new venue for their family business. At the time, we spoke to Laina, 39, about the original features found on site and how they are transforming the space.

ECHO photographer Andrew Teebay also captured what the site looked like before and during its transformation. The business is hosting its official launch party this weekend and here is a first look inside the transformed venue.
