Fundraising efforts for Naas GAA stalwart who is seriously ill

Friends have set up Gofundme account

A fundraising campaign has been launched for a Naas GAA stalwart who is seriously ill.
Gerry Halton has been suffering with Frontotemporal dementia (FTD) and Parkinsons disease for the last number of years.
Gerry has been a stalworth of Naas GAA, Naas AC and Naas Parkrun during his busy life.
A group of friends who have come together to help Gerry say he has given freely and willingly of his time, energy and good humour in the past - and has touched the lives of many in many positive ways.
Friends Ann-Marie Gallagher, Eddie Lenehan, Vinny McIntyre and Paul Spain have now set up a Gofundme account to raise funds for Gerry's future medical and care needs.
They said:
"Gerry’s care needs have increased as his condition has developed. He now needs significant additional professional care well beyond what his family can provide. The state provides some support but nowhere near enough to meet his needs. In particular, Marie and Gerry need overnight professional support to help manage Gerrys time at home.
"We are asking you to contribute to a “Go Fund Me” page that will be used to directly pay for overnight professional care for Gerry.
"You can make a personal contribution through the “Go Fund Me” page or better still you can organise a fundraising event and get others to contribute."
They also called on people to organise events such as:

  • a challenge match
  • a coffee morning
  • a fun (or competitive!) run
  • a table quiz
  • a disco (Gerry loves his music)

They added: "Please spread the word and let’s show our support to a fellow athlete and his family."
