Kildare landowners and farmers offered new opportunities with solar and energy revenues
Circal an Irish developer of large-scale solar and energy storages seeks to collaborate with Kildare landowners and the community for solar energy projects
by Daragh Nolan · Leinster LeaderCircal, a leading Irish developer of solar and energy storage projects, is actively seeking to talk and consult with landowners with a minimum of 50 acres in Kildare to explore opportunities to develop solar and energy storage projects. All projects seek to complement agriculture, enhance biodiversity and are typically generating yields far in excess of farming income earnings over 40 years, securing long term and sustainable revenues for landowners. Circal offers the most competitive land rates in the markets with guaranteed income and once operational, will establish a community benefit fund to be used for the wider economic, environmental, social and cultural well-being of the community.
The fund will be used to provide biodiversity projects, sustainability initiatives and as needs arise for local community groups like Tidy Towns, GAA clubs, pre-schools, day care centres and others.
All Circal projects are designed to complement agriculture, enhance biodiversity and provide attractive annual returns, that far exceed typical farming income and provide for long-term life planning.
Potential land holdings can be assessed within one week to determine if suitable for a solar renewable energy project development.
Once a project is fully developed, it is expected to bring investment of over €100m to the local economy once operational it’s expected that this project will contribute €650,000 per annum to local services through local authority rates and over €3,000,000 through its community benefit fund.
The company has recently secured €15 million from global energy giant Octopus Energy Generation. This investment will drive Circal’s current solar projects and accelerate its growth ambitions for clean energy projects in Ireland.
Founded by renewable energy industry veterans Bill Sadlier and Seán Manley, Circal is an Irish developer of utility-scale solar and energy storage projects. Its team is actively developing a portfolio of 24 projects totalling 4.5GW capacity in Ireland.
The Circal team bring a combined wealth of experience to large scale renewable energy projects having developed and managed a number of major projects over the past 20 years enabling a capital investment of €4billion across Ireland, Europe and the US.
Commenting Bill Sadlier, Chief Executive, Circal said, Kildare is a county prime for potential renewable energy development projects.
“Clean energy solutions provide power for the needs of citizens and businesses in Co. Kildare that are renewable, zero emission and avoid polluting the atmosphere. Clean energy is the future of power generation. We know though that delivering this requires meaningful collaboration both individual and in communities in the county and is at the heart of successful solar polar infrastructure.
We are in the process of talking to some landowners and farmers in Kildare and the feedback is extremely positive. Our approach and process are built on transparency. We will engage and work with people and communities to create real understanding of the solar energy journey and the huge positives it can have for them their wider communities.”
“Our ambition is focused on developing utility-scale projects from site identification across the entire county through to working with landowners to benefit them and in tandem deliver renewable energy solutions that will ultimately contribute to reducing carbon use and assist achieve net zero ambitions. Our latest strategic investment and partnership with Octopus Renewables reflects our shared vision of a future powered by renewable energy, not just for Kildare but for the entire country.”
“We are proud that this is the first investment in an Irish developer by Octopus who has a significant global track record in the clean energy space. It reflects their confidence in the Irish renewable energy market as well as our team’s experience and collaborative approach to delivering successful projects. I would encourage landowners across Kildare to reach out to our team to discover the long-term sustainable benefits of our projects”. Mr Sadlier concludes.
