Kildare County Council has been asked to act

A rise in the number of unauthorised developments in Kildare

by · Leinster Leader

There has been a call for Kildare County Council to tackle the rise in unauthorised developments - building work that takes place without planning permission or in breach of permission conditions.

Cllr Nuala Killeen wants KCC to commit to “a minimum of a weekly visit to the municipal district areas.”

She says this should be done  “in respect of proactive planning enforcement visits and monitoring in response to a spike in unauthorised developments and breaches of proper site management”.

According to KCC, alleged enforcement cases are prioritised and resources assigned by KCC officials and this a matter for KCC management to address.

KCC also said site management is outside of its remit and “is dealt with by the appropriate developer or owner of any site under development.”

It added developers are legally required to comply with the respective conditions of their planning permissions.
