by James Rodger, https://www.facebook.com/jamesrodgerjournalist · Birmingham LiveParents have been left devastated after a "miracle" nappy rash cream has been discontinued after it was spotted missing from shelves. Metanium Nappy Rash Ointment has been hailed as a lifesaver by many new mums and dads for treating the common irritation - but has been axed.
Writing in a Reddit post one mother said she emailed its manufacturers Thornton & Ross to find out why the product could no longer be found on shelves. She said: "I've been unable to find Metanium Yellow in the shops, emailed them, and they've responded saying it's been discontinued! Does anyone have any other recommendations?
"It’s the only thing that works when my son gets nappy rash." The Sun newspaper reports Superdrug, Tesco, Asda, Sainsbury's and Savers are all out of stock. The Sun also contacted representatives for the firm who confirmed the cream is no longer available.

They said: "Thornton & Ross has taken the decision to discontinue Metanium Nappy Rash Ointment. This is due to constraints that have impacted our ability to guarantee consistent supply and maintain the high standards of excellence we strive for in all our products."
They added: "We understand Metanium Nappy Rash Ointment was a valued product and we assure you that this decision was not taken lightly. We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience the discontinuation of Metanium Nappy Rash Ointment may cause."
The product has been specifically formulated to soothe and treat your baby's nappy rash and is 100% vegan-friendly. It is unscented and does not contain lanolin and relieves irritation and redness. It can be used from birth onwards.
"This product does not contain anything which can dye clothes as such and so the stains will come out. The yellow colour is due to pigments which are held in place by the paraffin oil/wax matrix. If this is removed then the pigment will wash off as well. In order to remove the grease you could either use a proprietary stain remover or alternatively vigorously rub neat washing up liquid into the stained area. Leave it to soak for an hour or so then launder as normal," it states.
