NatWest is handing customers a free £180 for Christmas - in a major Cost of Living boost. And helpfully, the high street bank's offer will also see the free payments rise to £216 is all eligibility criteria and requirements are fulfilled.

NatWest said: "Get our £180 offer when you switch into one of our Reward accounts. Apply online or via our mobile app to open a new Reward account and switch your current account held elsewhere using the Current Account Switch Service. This means your old bank account will close and any funds and Direct Debits will move over to us.

"If you're an existing customer, you can switch your account held elsewhere in to an existing eligible Reward account, or switch in and upgrade an existing account to one of our Reward accounts." To be eligible for the offer, within 60 days of completing the switch, you must have an eligible Reward account.

You must also pay in £1,250. This can be made of multiple payments and must remain in the account for 24 hours. Then, customers must in to our mobile app. If you already have the app, you’ll need to be on the latest version, the bank has said.

When you've met these conditions, it will pay £180 into your eligible account within 7 days. This service is only available to switch current accounts. Any other products you have with your old bank won't be moved at the same time.

Over 50 UK banks and building societies have signed-up to the Current Account Switch Service. You can check if your existing bank provider is a participant. It warned: "You won't be eligible for our switching incentives if your old bank isn't part of the Current Account Switch Service.

"Direct Debits and Standing Orders won’t appear on your account until the first payment has been taken."
