State pensioners who have five certain items in house handed £430 cash boost

Five bargain gadgets from Argos, B&M and The Range that can save £430 on energy bills have been revealed. The budget items and products can be snapped up from shops in Birmingham and help you save HUNDREDS, according to an engineer.

£8 items from Dunelm, as well as items costing £64 from The Range, £39 from B&M, £31 from The Range and £60 from Argos, can help. Nicholas Auckland, heating expert at Trade Radiators has shared his top buys that could cut hundreds of pounds from your bills.

The items will be particularly handy for state pensioners who've cruelly lost £300 Winter Fuel Payments. Nicholas said an electric blanket or throw will set you back between £20 and £50 and could save you up to £100 over the course of a year. The Range is among those selling the items for £31 - and some pensioners can even get a freebie from their energy firm if they're struggling.

"Heated airers work by circulating warm air around the clothes to dry them and in turn this warm air is released into the surrounding atmosphere. This can be especially effective if your room is well insulated as less heat will escape and more heat will be retained within the room," Nicholas said.

Other items include a heated airer, like one sold by the Range for £64. An oil-filled radiator can help target heat to a specific room in your home, too, and this Blaupunkt model from B&M will set you back £39 and has three heat settings and an adjustable thermostat.

Thermal curtains, meanwhile, can be snapped up for £60 from Argos, while draught excluders cost £8 from Dunelm and should be a go-to for households too. Stuart Middleton, consumer energy expert at So Energy, says: "Heated airers are an effective way of drying laundry, but there is also a dual benefit from the residual heat that they provide. With households across the UK facing high energy bills, investing in one might save you more money on utilities than you think."
