Eon makes promise to customers on energy bills and says 'guaranteed'
by Richard Guttridge, https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/authors/richard-guttridge/ · Birmingham LiveEnergy giant Eon has reached out to customers after it was announced bills would be going up again from January. Industry regulator Ofgem has confirmed it will be raising the Energy Price Cap, which dictates average bills, from the new year in another blow for households.
As a result, typical homes will pay an extra £21 a year with costs expected to remain high throughout 2025. But energy customers have been told they do have options to keep their bills below average.
Experts say it may be worth considering switching to a fixed tariff to keep charges below the price cap, particularly as there is likely to be little change to charges over the next year. Eon told customers it has a range of tariffs available for customers to look at if it is right for them.

It said the tariffs would be "guaranteed to be cheaper" than the January rates. Those who do want to fix are being urged to do so before the new cap kicks in.
The company said in a new update: "Ofgem has just announced their new price cap of £1,738 from January 1, 2025. We have a range of fixed tariffs for you to choose from – and they’re all guaranteed to be cheaper than the January price cap if you fix today.
"So take the chill off your finances this winter. Find the right fixed tariff for your home and lock in prices that beat the price cap."
