Tesco customers issued 72 hour deadline over Clubcard vouchers

Martin Lewis from Money Saving Expert is urging shoppers to quickly check their Clubcard vouchers as there's a looming deadline for £18 million worth of them. Martin previously made the warning on X/Twitter.

Stating on a post previously made on the now-defunct Twitter, Martin said: "Tesco shopper? You've just DAYS left to use £18 million worth of Clubcard vouchers." It's essential to take note because these Tesco vouchers expire after two years from the issue date.

To identify the expiry date on paper vouchers, all you have to do is look at the voucher itself. If you're unable to locate your paper vouchers or believe you might not have received them, checking is easy via the Tesco Clubcard website or mobile app, reports LeedsLive.

To see outstanding vouchers and the date when they expire, log in to your Tesco.com account, go to the 'Clubcard account', and select 'vouchers'. For those using the Tesco mobile app, click onto your 'clubcard' section and then 'vouchers'.

The app can be downloaded from both the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. When ready to use your vouchers, they can be spent online with a provided code, or you can choose to print them or scan the barcode in the Tesco app when in-store at the checkout.

Martin Lewis has shared a savvy tip for Tesco shoppers, advising them to double the value of their Clubcard points by using them with one of Tesco's Reward Partners, which include Disney+, Legoland, and Pizza Express. Lewis explains: "For example, 500 points are usually worth £5 to spend at Tesco – but if you exchange your vouchers for codes to use with a Reward Partner, 500 points are worth £10."

He also notes that it's possible to extend the validity of your vouchers, but you will have to do this by 11.59pm on Saturday, November 30, although it can be a bit tricky and requires assessing whether the effort is worthwhile. To do this, make a small purchase on the Tesco Clubcard Rewards page or donate to one of its partner charities. The remaining balance will then be credited back to your Clubcard account as points, which you have two years to use.

For instance, if you spend 50p using a £5 Clubcard voucher, you'll receive 450 points back, equivalent to £4.50. These points can be swapped for vouchers manually or automatically converted with your next statement.

There's no minimum spend required, so you could buy a 50p restaurant voucher (worth £1 at the chosen restaurant) and save the rest of the voucher as points for future use. However, Lewis warns that under the Clubcard terms and conditions, Tesco reserves the right to refuse a Reward Partner order if it suspects the vouchers are being redeemed solely to extend their validity.
