Cineworld to close down six cinemas - full list
by Sarah Probert, https://www.facebook.com/sarahprobertjournalist/ · Birmingham LivePopular cinema chain Cineworld has announced it will close six more branches across the UK as part of a huge restructure of the business. It is the second announcment made by Cineworld in recent months.
Back in July the company announced it was closing sites across Glasgow Parkhead, Bedford, Loughborough, Yate and Swindon Regent Circus.
The chain, rivalled by Odeon and VUE, as well as Showcase and the Everyman, closed these cinemas in October as part of the cost cutting exercise.

A new list has now been published with the following due to close, some as early as this month.
These are cinemas in
- Castleford
- Leigh
- Middlesbrough
- Northampton
- Poole
- Weymouth
The Weymouth branch will close for the final time on Monday, December 30.
The company operates around 100 sites nationwide including branches on Birmingham Broad Street and the NEC.
The chain has focused on securing the long-term future of its UK operations in its cost cutting plan with a particular focus on reducing rents to market level at several UK sites.
Javier Sotomayor, President of Cineworld International, said the restructure of the business was now complete. He added: "The successful completion of our Restructuring Plan, achieved with the crucial support of our landlords, protects thousands of jobs across the UK and provides us with the financial stability to continue investing in delivering extraordinary experiences for our valued customers."
