PIP rates are increasing in 2025.

PIP claimants alerted to extra payments from 2025

by · Birmingham Live

Payments to people with disabilities and other conditions will be increasing in the new year. Personal Independence Payments (PIP) are claimed by people who require help getting around or completing daily tasks.

The amount people receive will be going up from April, the Government has confirmed. The benefit is currently worth up to £184.30 a week for claimants who get both the daily living and mobility components.

DWP benefits will be increasing by 1.7% in 2025 based on the September rate of inflation. This determines how much benefits go up by each year.

The PIP rate will rise to a maximum of £187.45 a week from April 6, 2025. It will be worth an extra £163 a year for people who get the highest amount, bringing a boost to over three million people who claim the support.

The Government is expected to increase benefit payments in line with inflation each year. Payments rise every 12 months to match the inflation rate from the previous September in recognition of the increasing cost of living.

The state pension will rise by a bigger amount at 4.1%. The difference is because the pension rate is based on the Government's triple lock guarantee.

This ensures the amount rises to match whatever is highest out of inflation, wage growth and 2.5% in a given year. The Government said: "DWP benefits that are linked to inflation rise by 1.7% in April 2025, as do inflation-linked benefits administered by HMRC. The basic and new State Pension will be uprated by 4.1% from April 2025."
