Terrifying moment yob pushes firework through letterbox of family home

by · Mail Online

This is the terrifying moment a yob pushed a lit firework through the letterbox of a family home while a petrified mother and three children were inside.

Ring doorbell camera footage shows the moment the thug, who was wearing a cap and had his hood up, strode up to the door before pushing the firework into the house and running off.

Around ten minutes before the camera filmed him carrying out the attack, the mystery bomber was filmed walking up to the house before appearing to knock on the door.

A spokesperson for Leicestershire Police said the force was investigating the incident but no arrests have been made at this stage.

Kerrian Bott, 34, said she and her children were instantly woken up by what sounded like a 'gunshot' when the firework was set off inside her house, in Mountsorrel, near Loughborough.

After the mystery bomber posted the live firework to the family, they ran off

She said her children, aged between three and 14, were left 'terrified' by what happened and said they were 'lucky' that it did not start a fire in the house.

She told LeicestershireLive: 'As soon as I heard it, I instantly jumped up. I could smell something, a burning smell, it took me a minute to realise [it was a firework].

'I thought it was a roll of paper, the cardboard from inside a toilet roll. It was a bang, a really loud bang. It sounded like a gunshot.

'I was like what the hell is that? Luckily I have laminate flooring, so it didn't start a fire. I have damage on the skirting, black marks, but nothing too much.'

She added the incident had left her 'on edge'.

A spokesperson for Leicestershire Police said: 'The incident was reported to police at 1.30am yesterday morning (September 17) from a house in John Wesley Close.

'No injuries were reported, and the firework caused minor fire damage. No arrests have been made as our enquiries continue.'
