Russell Brand interprets the Bible and performs a baptism in underwear

by · Mail Online

Russell Brand's conversion to Christianity continued this week as he interpreted the Bible and performed a Baptism in his underpants.

The 49-year-old was seen standing in a lake with two other men, one of whom was also wearing nothing but his boxers as they carried out the religious practice.

Brand posted the photos on social media accompanied by the caption: 'It might seem a bit soon to be baptizing people, but the Apostles did it on day one, so here we are.'

Since December 2023, the comedian and presenter has published several posts discussing his growing relationship with Christianity.

This week he uploaded a video interpreting the Bible, in which he expressed his gratefulness for God's sacrifice.

'How can we ever understand with the conscious limited mind that God himself came down to earth and was sacrificed, that we may be redeemed and rose again, that we may have eternal life, with our limited consciousness, it's not possible,' he said.

Russell Brand reveals he's been baptised in the Thames as he turns to Christianity after rape and sex assault allegations

Brand was accused of rape, assault and emotional abuse as part of a joint investigation by Channel 4's Dispatches programme, The Times and Sunday Times last year.

He has strongly denied all accusations about his behaviour which allegedly took place at the height of his fame between 2006 and 2013.

In April this year, Brand was baptised in the Thames as he turned to religion following the accusations against him.

He said he felt 'nourished' and 'as though a new resource' has been 'switched on inside me' following his own baptism.

Russell Brand said he felt 'nourished' and 'as though a new resource' has been 'switched on inside me' following his baptism in the Thames earlier this year

The former Buddhist made no reference about the accusations hanging over him in the video posted on his social media, but did say he faced 'challenges' in his life.

He described being baptised as an 'incredible profound experience' and that 'something occurred in the process of baptism that was incredible, overwhelming'.

Telling his followers that he felt changed and transitioned, he said: 'Now of course even though it has been less than 24 hours in the interim period I've already felt like irritation: I've got three children, I've got a job, I've got challenges, I still live in the world. But I feel as though some new resource within me has switched on.'
