Half-Life 2 City 17 Apartment Unreal Engine 5 Fan Demo Released

by · DSOGaming

DeepVelocityOps has released a fan remake of Half-Life 2’s City 17 Apartment in Unreal Engine 5. This fan demo will let you explore the iconic apartment Gordon uses to escape from Combine at the beginning of Half Life 2. It’s a pretty cool fan demo. So, if you are an HL2 fan, you should at least try it.

Now since this is a fan demo from one dev, you should temper your expectations. The demo allows you to fight some enemies. For instance, it has a few Combine, zombies and crabs. However, from what I’ve seen, the hit reactions and combat mechanics are a bit basic.

The demo also appears to be using Lumen. However, it doesn’t seem to support Hardware Lumen. As such, there are some visual artifacts that can become a bit distracting.

In short, for a one-man project, this fan demo of Half-Life 2 in Unreal Engine 5 is pretty cool. Still, this is nowhere close to the quality of a fully-fledged remake of HL2 in UE5. So, don’t expect anything like that.

You can download this fan demo from this link. At the end of the article, you can also find a trailer for it.

Now if you want a fan demo that can showcase the capabilities of Unreal Engine 5, you should download the Rome Italian Town Tech Demo. That demo packs some of the best visuals we’ve seen in UE5. They can also give you an idea of what future games may look like. So, if you haven’t tried it yet, I highly recommend downloading it.

Speaking of Unreal Engine 5, we also recommend trying out these other free fan-made demos. You can grab a Superman UE5 Demo, a Halo 3: ODST Remake, and a Spider-Man UE5 Demo. There’s also a fan-made version of STALKER in Unreal Engine 5. If you love old-school FPS games, you should check out this remake of the classic FPS Blood in Epic’s engine. Don’t also forget the remake of Halo: Combat Evolved’s Halo level in UE5 or this free Attack on Titan game. Last month, we also shared a demo of King’s Field 2 in UE5. Finally, we have The Lord of the Rings: Conquest Reimagined in Unreal Engine 5, a remake of Flappy Bird, and a Diablo 2 Remake Demo. They all look awesome, so be sure to give them a try.

Enjoy and stay tuned for more!
