Darksiders 2 will get a free Ray Tracing Update on PC

by · DSOGaming

THQ Nordic has announced a free update for Darksiders 2 Deathinitive Edition which will add Ray Tracing to the game. This update will be coming to the PC on October 15th. And, since we’re talking about a free update, it will be available to everyone who already owns the game.

In its press release, THQ Nordic claimed that this update will bring enhanced lighting and shadows. So, I assume that we’ll get RTGI and RT shadows. I mean, that’s what the press release implies. Unless the devs use traditional methods to improve the lighting and shadows, and only use RT for reflections.

The devs will also improve the game’s loading times for PS5 and Xbox Series X. So, again, I assume those improvements will also come to the PC. Unless the PC version can already take advantage of SSDs.

To celebrate this announcement, THQ Nordic shared the following teaser trailer. This trailer is really short (22 secs) and it’s full of cuts. So, most of you won’t be able to notice the improved graphics.

I believe a Before/After comparison would have been a better demonstration. Unless the RT effects are not that great in this title, which is why THQ Nordic may not feel comfortable showcasing them.

Anyway, enjoy the teaser trailer and stay tuned for more!
