Academy Award-winning actress Olivia Colman is set to enchant children as she reads the sequel to the beloved tale 'The Gruffalo' on CBeebies Bedtime Stories.

At age 50, Colman, who has gained immense acclaim for her roles both on the small and big screens, joins the illustrious list of celebrities, including Zayn Malik, Kylie Minogue, and Billie Eilish, who have previously graced the BBC storytelling segment with their narrations.

The British star picked 'The Gruffalo’s Child', penned by Julia Donaldson and illustrated by Axel Scheffler in 2004, which also became a festive hit as a Christmas Day film on the BBC in 2011. Sharing her excitement, Colman remarked: "I have loved CBeebies Bedtime Stories with my children over the years, I was so excited to be able to read one. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did."

Married to Ed Sinclair since 2001 and a mother to three, she will voice the story about the adventurous young Gruffalo who embarks on a quest to find the Big Bad Mouse, a journey that leads her to encounters with Snake, Owl, Fox, and possibly the mouse itself.

Colman, who initially rose to fame with her portrayal in the British comedy series Peep Show, has since then carved out a sterling career path with her award-winning performance as Queen Anne in 'The Favourite'. Additionally, she's been recognized with Oscar nominations for 'The Father' and 'The Lost Daughter'.

Her TV credits are just as impressive, with appearances in 'The Night Manager', 'Fleabag', 'Broadchurch', and 'The Crown'. Recently, Colman's voice has graced the projects 'Paddington In Peru' and 'Wicked Little Letters'.

Her episode is set to air on CBeebies Bedtime Stories at 6.50pm on Friday, November 8, and will be available on CBeebies and BBC iPlayer.
