The Newcastle Christmas Market has returned to bring festive cheer to the city.

The market has grown in size over the last few years, with the festivities spreading to Grey Street, Grainger Street, Monument and Old Eldon Square.

There is huge variety when it comes to the stalls, and the Moosenwirt alpine bar will be back in the usual place, just up from the Theatre Royal. But this year, it includes private hire dining igloos at Grey's Monument. The team behind Moosenwirt have also now expanded into Old Eldon Square, with Santa Storytime, Elf Workshops and live entertainment on stage.

After work behind the scenes to get this year's Christmas Market ready, visitors were able to get their first taste of the Christmas event on Saturday.

The stalls taking up residence at the market include huge retailers like Fenwick and John Lewis, established North East favourites like Geordie Bangers and Tyneside Cinema, and delicious eateries like Pablo Eggs-Go-Bao and Redheads Mac & Cheese.

Continue below to see what you can look forward to during a visit to this year's Newcastle Christmas Market.
