Lorraine Kelly forced to apologise after she swears live on ITV show
by Kathryn Riddell, Monde Mwitumwa · ChronicleLiveLorraine Kelly has taken a moment to apologise to viewers after unexpectedly letting a swear word slip during a live broadcast.
On Monday's instalment of the popular ITV talk show, the presenter was back on our screens discussing the latest stories when she dropped the expletive.
Joined by Emmerdale's Nicola Wheeler to talk about her character's challenging story arc, the conversation veered towards the unpredictable weather on set.
Nicola described the elements saying: "There are long horrible cold days when you are out in the village all day and it's raining and windy so you've got to have that sense of humour with each other because words take up a lot of your life so if you're not having fun it makes life miserable so our aim is to have fun."
Lorraine shared her own memories of visiting Emmerdale, recalling: "I do remember being there when we did the show live from Emmerdale and the last time we did it the Woolpack was lovely and cosy with lots of fire."
As she reminisced further, she inadvertently cursed, "But we have been outside and it was boll******.", reports the Mirror.
The actress laughed off the moment, adding her own experience: "The village is like a wind tunnel because there can be a mild breeze around the village but down that main street it's like blowing a gale every time and I'm always taken where my hair is blowing in the wind."
Lorraine was quick to offer her apologies for the slip-up, explaining: "Now earlier on when I was talking to Nicola I said a bad word and I didn't know it was a bad word because in Scotland we say that word all the time."
She continued: "I want to say it again but I can't, I said a word for cold, which you all know but anyway," as she addressed the viewers. Social media users were swift to react to the gaffe, with one viewer posting on X, previously known as Twitter: "#lorraine Ooohermissus! Lorraine just said 'b*********' but live caption editor censored it to 'freezing'."
Another was curious, asking: "Did she just say b*********? #Lorraine."
A third found humour in the situation, commenting: "Hahaha #Lorraine said boll****** on live TV."
Lorraine Kelly airs weekdays from 9am on ITV and ITVX.
