Davina McCall thrills Ant and Dec with surprise I'm A Celeb appearance following brain surgery
by Tom Bryant · ChronicleLiveTV favourite Davina McCall surprised fans with an appearance following her brain surgery—on Instagram Live during Saturday nights I'm A Celeb. The renowned presenter, who recently underwent surgery to remove a benign tumour, thrilled Ant and Dec with her digital drop-in.
Sending a jovial missive, she said: "Hey everyone! Still here" complete with a laughing emoji, she certainly lifted spirits across the studio. Overcome with excitement, Dec announced, "Hey Davina McCall is here everybody," while Ant expressed his well-wishes, commenting, "Hope you are feeling well...sending you lots of love from the jungle."
Crew members were also heard expressing their affection, chiming in with "We love you Davina."
Though the collective joy was palpable, Davina indicated that it might have been time to rest, stating, "I'm gonna sign off now."
In light humour, Ant quipped, "We were too much for her, we were too loud.", reports the Mirror.
Her cameo follows reassurances from her partner Michael Douglas concerning her recovery post-operation. Earlier in the week he shared that Davina, at 57, was in intensive care as a precaution after having the tumour removed, but was making significant headway.
On Tuesday, he updated saying, "Mega progress these last 24 hours. Massive relief to see some light breaking through."
Thankful for the influx of positive energy from every direction, he added, "Thanks for all the good vibes coming in from all angles, up and up. Thanks so much to all the wellwishers. She really has made an enormous leap forward in the last 24 hours. She is out of ICU."
The mother of three explained that the half-inch-wide tumour, a rare condition affecting just three in every million people, needed to be removed urgently as "if it grows, it would be bad". She anticipated a nine-day hospital stay, with her partner Michael, 49, keeping friends and family updated on her progress.
On Friday, he reported that the operation was successful, describing it as 'textbook', but noted that Davina was "utterly exhausted". Davina is known for hosting the dating series 'My Mum, Your Dad', serving as a judge on 'The Masked Singer', and presenting TV shows about the menopause.
According to the NHS, non-cancerous brain tumours are more commonly diagnosed in those over 50.
