Michael Douglas, the partner of television icon Davina McCall, has shared a post on her behalf following her recent brain surgery.

British TV favourite Davina informed her followers yesterday of her urgent surgery to remove a 14mm non-cancerous brain tumour. In a heartfelt message shared on Instagram, Davina said: "I was offered a health scan which I thought I was going to ace but it turned out I had benign brain tumour," adding that such a diagnosis is "very rare".

The beloved presenter has been inundated with the support and thoughts of her fans as she went ahead with the surgery. Meanwhile, Michael has taken on the role of handling her social media engagements while she recuperates, providing a comforting update to Davina's concerned fans, reports the Mirror.

Michael captioned a text photo containing his message: "An update from me, Michael," The comment penned by Michael conveyed: "Hey all. Davina is out of surgery and according to the surgeon it was textbook! She's currently recovering in ICU as a precaution, as you can imagine she's utterly exhausted. Thanks so much for all the love from everyone on here. it's powerful stuff, we are super grateful. Michael xx."

Kate Thornton, the former host of X Factor, expressed her relief and well-wishes in the comments section, writing: "So relieved to hear it went well. Thinking of you all and sending love for the speediest of recoveries x," while Loose Women's Katie Piper chimed in with a supportive message: "Good to hear. We are all thinking of you Davina."

Claudia Winkleman, the host of Strictly Come Dancing, also responded, telling the couple she was "sending so much love", and comedian Alan Carr said he was "so relieved".

In an earlier post from this morning, Michael updated everyone on Davina's status, stating that she was in "great shape" but would be "off grid" during her recovery period. Accompanying a video, he wrote: "Hey everyone. Michael here. @davinamccall will be "off grid" for a bit while she recovers from this brain operation. She is in great shape and in very good hands. I'll do the odd update from her account here for anyone interested. I'm sure she'll read all the comments when she's able to so feel free to send love [heart emoji] . The support of people is amazingly powerful. Have a great day everyone. Michael xxx."

Though evidently remaining fit, Davina McCall earlier in the year disclosed that she had been on the receiving end of negative comments about her body shape. The Big Brother host addressed detractors on Instagram in May after a clip she shared attracted criticism for her appearing "too skinny".

Speaking out against what she described as "cruel" feedback, Davina said: "I'm a 5ft 6in woman who weighs 61 kilos. I don't diet. I exercise. I eat relatively healthily and I enjoy sharing that journey with people. I'm 57 this year and I'm happy with the way that I look."

The fitness enthusiast launched her initial workout DVD in 2004. After distributing 14 exercise DVDs throughout her career, Davina ventured into digital space, in 2019 launching 'Own Your Goals', an online platform engineered to assist others in their fitness journeys. It's packed with exercise routines, live workout sessions, nutritious meal plans, and tips on sustaining good health.
