‘About A Boy’ stars Hugh Grant and Nicholas Hoult enjoy reunion 22 years later

by Sam Warner · NMEAbout A Boy stars Hugh Grant and Nicholas Hoult have enjoyed a reunion 22 years after the movie’s original release.
The pair both starred in the 2002 film, based on the book by Nick Hornby, which follows a man who attends single parent meetings to woo women, and befriends a troubled 12-year-old boy who teaches him responsibility.
Grant has now shared a picture on X of the two actors reuniting at an event, posting a side-by-side of himself and former child star Hoult in the film.
This isn’t the only About A Boy reunion Hoult has enjoyed recently, with the actor recently appearing alongside co-star Toni Collette in Juror No. 2.
Hoult has appeared in recent years in the likes of Renfield, The Menu and TV series The Great, and is due to star in the upcoming Nosferatu remake and play the role of Lex Luthor in Superman.
Following About A Boy, he famously went on to star in teen series Skins, and suggested to NME last year that it “captured that moment – the way Euphoria captures the moment now”.

“It’s funny, because I remember my Skins days being so intertwined with NME,” he added. “I went to the NME Awards one year and got to meet Alex Turner, which was so exciting because I loved Arctic Monkeys. It was a really fun party you guys had.
“I can’t remember [what he said]. Also, I was probably drunk. Who knows? But I remember having fun. And I’ve still got that picture of us somewhere, which is cool.”
In other news, last week Grant – who recently starred in Heretic – reflected on his character William Thacker in 1999 film Notting Hill, calling him “despicable”.
“Whenever I’m flicking the channels at home after a few drinks and this comes up, I just think, ‘Why doesn’t my character have any balls?’” he told Vanity Fair’s Scene Selection. “There’s a scene in this film where she’s in my house and the paps come to the front door and ring the bell and I think I just let her go past me and open the door. That’s awful.
“I’ve never had a girlfriend, or indeed now wife, who hasn’t said, ‘Why the hell didn’t you stop her? What’s wrong with you?’ And I don’t really have an answer to that – it’s how it was written. And I think he’s despicable, really.”
