The highly-anticipated Grand Theft Auto 6 is due for release at some point in 2025. However, it’s been almost a year since publisher Rockstar shared the first and only teaser trailer for the game.
It’s also been eleven years since Grand Theft Auto 5 was released so it’s hardly surprising that the sequel picked up the trophy for Most Wanted Game at the Golden Joystick Awards last night (November 21).
Accepting the honour, Rockstar published director David Manley said (via GamesRadar): “There’s an incredible amount of people doing amazing things on Grand Theft Auto 6, absolutely mind-blowing things. So it’s an honour to be able to come up here and accept this award on everyone’s behalf. I wish more of us could be here. Thank you very much everybody, and yeah, more to come.”
Earlier this month, a former developer who worked on Grand Theft Auto 6 claimed it would “blow people away”.
“You only have to look at how every game Rockstar has done has evolved in some way. People will be talking about it for ages afterwards just like they did with GTA 5 and I’m really, really excited for people to get their hands on it and play it, just because I think [Rockstar] has raised the bar again,” they said.

However earlier this year, another former developer said fans might be “disappointed” with GTA 6 after an 11 year wait. “I don’t think it is going to be wildly different from GTA 5.” In August, Rockstar confirmed the game was still due to launch at some point in 2025, despite rumours about a delay.
In other news, Twenty One Pilots have become the latest band to share their contribution to the Arcane season two soundtrack. The gorgeous ‘The Line’ is their first new material since recent album ‘Clancy’ and was inspired by the show’s themes of chosen family.
