Charli XCX has expressed her excitement over the upcoming new Sky Ferreira song in a post on social media – check it out below.

The ‘Brat’ pop star, who teamed up with Ferreira on 2019’s ‘Cross You Out’, reacted to the news that the latter had recorded a track for the forthcoming A24 film Babygirl, starring Nicole Kidman.

Titled ‘Leash’, the single is due to arrive on streaming platforms this Thursday (December 5).

Writing on X/Twitter today (December 3), Charli said: “I was already so excited for Babygirl but now we get Babygirl + a new song from Sky: omg. stan mode activated.” See the post below.

Over the summer, Charli ranked Ferreira as her favourite pop star above global stars like Rihanna, Billie EilishLady Gaga and Olivia Rodrigo.

“It’s really tough… That didn’t come lightly. I really love Sky. She’s one of a kind,” she said after deliberating her decision to place Ferreira in the top spot – ahead of the ‘Umbrella’ singer at Number Two. Earlier, she described herself as “the biggest Rihanna stan ever”.

Meanwhile, Ferreira is “working” on taking back ownership of her songs after her label Capitol Records dropped her in a move she has described as “impersonal”.

In November 2023, it was reported that Ferreira’s name had been removed from the Capitol roster on its official website. She only released one album under the label, 2013’s ‘Night Time, My Time’, which has since become a cult favourite among fans.

“[Capitol Records] kept me from putting out new music for 10 years as a way of making me look like I’m incapable of it,” Ferreira explained in a new interview.

“I’m able to do a song for an A24 film after all this time because that first album clearly meant something to people.”

On her tumultuous relationship with Capitol Records, Ferreira told NME in 2022: “It just goes in circles trying to gain respect, I guess.”

Elsewhere, Charli XCX has reflected on completing “four epic shows” on her ‘Brat’ UK arena tour – which concluded in Glasgow last night (December 2) following gigs in Manchester, London and Birmingham.

Her show in the capital saw the singer bring out Robyn, Caroline Polachek and Yung Lean, while her fiancé – The 1975 drummer George Danielfinally did the viral ‘Apple’ dance in the crowd.

Earlier on the tour, Charli paid tribute to her late friend and collaborator SOPHIE on stage in Manchester.

Charli looks set to have another big ‘Brat’ summer in 2025. Last week, she was confirmed as the first headliner for next year’s Parklif. The ‘360’ artist has also curated a day at London’s LIDO Festival, where she’ll deliver a bill-topping performance.

Additionally, she will play two outdoor shows in Belfast and Dublin, perform at Coachella 2025 and top the bill at Primavera Sound in Barcelona and Porto. Charli has announced a US arena tour for April and May too.

Charli recently earned seven Grammy nominations for the 2025 ceremony, including Album Of The Year (‘Brat’) and Record Of The Year (‘360’).

Her ‘Brat’ track ‘365’ has landed at Number 11 on NME‘s 50 best songs of 2024 list, with her ‘Girl, So Confusing’ remix with Lorde coming in at Number Four.

In October, Charli’s ‘Brat’ remix collection became her second UK Number One album. In a five-star review of the record, NME wrote: “Throughout the album, her selection of collaborators – both featuring artists and producers – suit the track they were recruited for. Their big-name status doesn’t take away from the layer of lore they add to the Brat-iverse, and they fit well with Charli stylistically and lyrically.”

The original version of the album missed out on the top spot in the UK, debuting at Number Two behind Taylor Swift‘s ‘The Tortured Poets Department’. However, ‘Brat’ soon took on a life of its own and became a cultural phenomenon.

Recently, Collins Dictionary selected ‘brat’ as their word of the year following the immense popularity of Charli’s album and the lore surrounding it.
