TV personality and social media star James Patrice has a passion for radio, following his stint covering for Brian Dowling on 98FM this summer.

Brian took a step back from his radio show this summer as he prepared to welcome baby number two with husband Arthur Gourounlian.

The former Big Brother winner joined 98FM last March and hosts the mid-morning slot with broadcaster Suzanne Kane, and James loved every second of his time taking care of Brian's role.

"I was very very fortunate to get to do that cover, I loved it. So fun, Suzanne was amazing. She was such a good person to learn the ropes from," he told RSVP Live.

He would love to go back and work with 98FM, and said the "door is open" between him and the station for potential future work.

“When it was my last day covering for Brian, they were very much saying ‘don’t be saying on ait that it’s goodbye now’ because they do want me to come back.”

He added: "I have had some conversations about doing more on my own, or with Suzanne or other people or if Brian needed more cover, so I will definitely be doing more with them.”

“They are a lovely station. They’re leaving the door open, and I enjoyed it a lot.”

Touching on why he loves radio, the social media star said that the connection you have with the audience is his driving factor.

“There is something so intimate with radio, you feel like you’re in someone's kitchen having a chat with them. I enjoyed it and I would love to be back!”

“Getting to know listeners and thinking about someone at home having a cup of tea, and you’re their company, and their you’re company. It's so nice."

James recently opened up to RSVP Live about his experience surviving meningitis. When the TV and radio star was just ten years old, he became gravely unwell with the disease, which can kill in under 24 hours.

Thankfully, him mum Veronica 'Fron' Butler had recently read some information on spotting the signs of the illness in the weeks before her own son became ill, and she swiftly took action.

James is sharing his story with Meningitis Research Foundation to mark World Meningitis Day on October 5.

The charity is calling for 2,030 people from every part of the world to share their meningitis experience in Meningitis in your words. To find out more, visit:www.meningitis.org/meningitis-in-your-words
