Miriam O'Callaghan and her husband Steve Carson celebrated their anniversary this weekend.

The couple, who met in Strokestown, County Roscommon while they were working on BBC's Newsnight, got married in Kinnitty Castle back in 2000.

To mark the special occasion on Saturday night, Miriam shared a rare picture of them together.

The loved-up pair smiled for the camera on a wet and windy walk near their Dublin home.

Alongside the snap Miriam simply said: "Happy Anniversary to my Steve."

The couple were inundated with well-wishes and messages of love from their friends, followers and some familiar faces on Instagram.

Ireland AM presenter Muireann O'Connell said: "Why did this make me emotional; happy anniversary."

Lucy Kennedy said: "Happy Anniversary you two."

Eurovision winner Eimear Quinn added: "It’s a big one and even Steve looks happy to be in a photo for a change!!

"Only took a quarter of a century. Love you both so much - this is what the real deal looks like right there."

Miriam and Steve met in Strokestown, County Roscommon on June 16 1995 when they were filming for Newsnight on BBC.

The Prime Time host previously told RSVP Magazine: "It was my first time going back to work for the show after my sister and father died. I didn’t want to do it and my lovely producer said, 'There is a new producer from Belfast called Steve Carson and you will really like him.'

"And, sure enough, I met him and he was a lovely guy. My wedding ring says ALWFS, which means a long way from Strokestown."

The RTÉ couple got married in Kinnitty Castle in Offaly after the breakdown of Miriam's first marriage. They had four sons together after starting their long-standing romance.

Miriam recalled: "We had a great wedding and it was great fun. I was divorced and I had four daughters from my first marriage and by the time we got married Steve and I had two sons.

"There was a lovely Church of Ireland priest who married us and he said, 'May they be further blessed with children' and then we had another two."
