Martin told RSVP Magazine: "No, we have two more weddings coming up over the next nine months. We are looking forward to those a lot.

"The grandchildren are that very cutesy age – Mia turned two in May and Ella will be two in a couple of weeks’ time.

"They are both coming up with lots of words, so you have to be very careful with what you say around them."

The Ireland AM presenter added: "My son James is getting married later this year and my daughter Victoria is getting married in the new year."

Weddings are very emotional days.

Martin said: "We have had one wedding so far, our eldest boy Dean got married two years ago. They are very emotional days because you remember them when they were tots.

"All of a sudden, here they are making a vow with the love of their life. Only two of our children live with us now, the other three are living their own lives in their own houses.

"A wedding is a great event in somebody’s life and you are there witnessing it while also remembering when they were young."

Martin knows there be tears walking down the aisle with Victoria.

He said: "I can see that being very emotional, obviously. The last time she was in a white dress was on her Communion day and the time before that was her Christening day.

"There will be a few tears shed that morning, but they will be happy tears."

What kind of grandfather is he? "Jenny is more the doting one. She brought Sophia, who is now four, to Smyths about a year ago.

"They were going for one small thing and they came out with a trolley load of toys. Sophia had a kiddies’ trolley full as well!

"The kids just do the things that granddaughters do to me, like stick their fingers in your ear!"

Having smallies around has given a bit of rejuvenation to his relationship with Jenny.

Martin said: "Jenny absolutely inhales the grandkids. She dotes on the three little girls and they dote on her.

"It brings a different energy into the house. We have a 13-year-old grandson as well, but he is too cool for school and he doesn’t want to be hugged that much."
