Vogue Williams explains why she was missing from radio show after Ryan Tubridy's request

Presenter Vogue often fills in for Ryan Tubridy on Virgin Radio when he takes time off, but had to miss out on one opportunity over the summer when she lost her voice

Vogue Williams has jokingly blamed Coldplay for famously missing out on filling in for Ryan Tubridy on the airwaves this summer.

The presenter and podcaster has often filled in for the former Late Late Show host while he has taken time off from his Virgin Radio mid-morning show.

However, there was one occasion where Vogue had to miss out on the opportunity on a Monday morning, having spent the weekend at Glastonbury.

The Dubliner felt bad having to delay her start on the airwaves by one day but was left with no choice as she had lost her voice at the music festival.

Vogue explained: "I was so well-behaved. I was like, 'I'll go wild on Friday, and then take it handy on Saturday,' and so I was in bed at Saturday night at 2am. When I got up after loads of sleep, I couldn't talk. I blame Coldplay.

"It was the second time I've ever missed work. I've done podcasts when I had a vomiting bug. Ryan was like, 'Good luck, I'll be listening.' I was like, 'No, you won't.'"

Thankfully, Vogue was able to cover for Ryan from that Tuesday onwards until the end of the week and has filled in for him a couple of times ever since. The mum-of-three added that the ex RTE presenter reached out to her personally to ask if she could cover him.

"Ryan is so kind and giving - he asked me, 'Would you like to cover for me?' He's really like that with people and in the industry, and it was nice to be asked," she told Weekend magazine.

Vogue has been a public figure in the UK and Ireland for many years now, but her stardom has risen even more since she entered the world of podcasting. She currently hosts My Therapist Ghosted Me with Joanne McNally, Spencer & Vogue with husband Spencer Matthews and has just launched her latest venture, Never Live It Down, on top of other projects.

The presenter says she has noticed a "big shift" in the public's perception of her ever since she got into the podcast game.

"People had an opinion of me from a 60-second video on Instagram, right? So then it was probably surprising to hear what I was like on the pod. It was a really nice way to let people in," she explained.

Vogue is enjoying major success in the media industry at the moment, but admits that she does worry about opportunities waning as quickly as they are currently coming in.

She added: "Of course you do, because god, it's so unpredictable this industry. I've been really lucky with all the jobs that I'm doing, but even stuff that I'm beginning work on now, I'm like, if in 20 years I'm still in this industry, I'm thinking of things that I want to do that I would be more suited to when I'm older.

"But of course, you always have that worry.

"I don't think about imposter syndrome as much anymore. I just keep working hard. But I do love what I get to do. Long may it last."
