RTE's Miriam O'Callaghan shares rare picture with youngest son James as he goes to the Debs

Miriam O'Callaghan has posted a rare family picture with her youngest child James as he celebrated his Debs.

The RTE presenter shared a sweet selfie on her Instagram page, pointing out the fact that this is the last time she will see one of her children celebrate the milestone.

"Youngest son - Sweet Baby James - off to his Debs tonight , my final debs. Time flies. Carpe Diem," Miriam wrote on Instagram.

"Image of you," one follower commented underneath.

A second gushed: "Awwww. So lovely. I remember him as a cute, funny little toddler. A handsome young man now….how time flies. Love to the proud mamma."

While a third person added: "Aw lovely young man Miriam".

Miriam is mum to eight children - daughters Alannah, Clara, Georgia, and Jessica, whom she shares with ex Tom McGurk, and sons Conor, Jack, Daniel and James, whom she welcomed with husband Steve Carson.

Georgia, who is based in New York and recently reunited with her mum as she travelled to the States to cover the US Presidential election, opened up about growing up in a busy household.

She said: "Look, it took a village. Mum is incredible, but we all helped each other – we had an incredible childminder who now looks after Alannah’s [her sister] kids. Nanny would often help.

"But it was chaos. It was Cheaper By The Dozen in the best possible way. If you’re trying to study for an exam, it’s a nightmare. You’d better run and get the pint of milk out of the fridge because it’s going to be gone."

Georgia added to the Irish Independent: "We all steal each other’s clothes. But I wouldn’t change it. I’m so grateful for it."

Miriam tends to separate her personal life from her public one, but now and again shares glimpses into life at home with her family. A recent post about her son Daniel returning home from Australia particularly struck a chord with her social media followers.

She told RSVP Magazine: "He had been away for a year-and-a-half. I put up a really short post on Instagram at the airport waiting for him to come home and it was my most liked Instagram post ever. People understand what it is like when your child is away. I’m not a worrier, but I was so happy to have him back home. He is now going to study law – like mother, like son!"

As well as being a mum-of-eight, Miriam is also a grandmother.

The Prime Time host added: "I have a beautiful granddaughter and grandson, but I don’t really talk about them because I want to respect their privacy. Of course I love them just as much as I love my own children, which is really wonderful."
