When McCullough was not present, the co-host of the popular show said: “What the bloody hell? He only gets four stars and his campmates pamper him. It’s not good, is it? He literally got four out of 10.”
Fans expressed disappointment in the host, wondering if he was “mad” with McCullough or being specifically tough on him.
Ant discussed his attitude on the ITV2 after show for the series: I’m a Celebrity; Unpacked, after prompted by the host Joel Dommet who said: “Let’s talk briefly about today’s trial”.
McPartlin confessed to letting his “annoyance” overcome him in those moments, saying: “My annoyance came across on screen and I was quite unprofessional. You get to the point where you’re like, what are you doing?’”
He continued, saying that he: “got quite annoyed at one point” as he thought: “If you can’t do it, you can’t do it, but just get on with it – just try it.”
‘If it is physically impossible or you find it physically hard, that’s fine – but at least try,” McPartlin added: “There was a lot of not trying for quite a few minutes until they started to try and then they ran out of time.”
Former I'm a Celeb contestant, and rival to Colleen Rooney, Rebekah Vardy has joined Ant in criticising McCullough, giving him the nickname “teabag Dean”.
In her latest column, she wrote: “he just needs to get a grip and get on with it” and continued: “The public have found their weak link in Dean - or teabag Dean as I'll now call him - and they are really testing him to see whether he will crack.
She added: “his screaming made me want to scream too. And not with him, but at him.”
This comes as two new arrivals Maura Higgins and Reverand Richard had viewers in stitches with their hilarious “double act”.
