Cheryl discusses son Bear in first interview since Liam Payne's death

Cheryl is set to discuss her son in an upcoming TV interview, recorded prior to the tragic passing of Liam Payne. The interview will be the first time the Girls Aloud star has appeared on television since the One Direction singer's fatal fall from his hotel room window in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Cheryl and Liam are parents to their seven-year-old son, Bear. The Mirror US reports that the interview features Cheryl alongside her Girls Aloud bandmates - Nadine Coyle, Nicola Roberts, and Kimberley Walsh.

The conversation was held on October 8, just days before Liam's sudden death. It is due to be broadcast this weekend.

During the interview, the group talked about their reunion tour. "The music industry is such a young place, that when you're that young and you're shrouded in that ageism you just think we could never possibly do that at that age," Nicola said.

Cheryl then added "how fortunate" she and her three remaining bandmates are to reunite 22 years after their formation on Popstars: The Rivals. She also briefly discusses her son.

The singer confessed that she, Kimberly, and Nadine "became a bit cooler" with their children as they accompanied them on tour earlier this year. Following Liam's death, Cheryl posted an emotional tribute.

In a heartfelt message, she said: "Liam was not only a pop star and a celebrity, he was a son, a brother, an uncle, a dear friend and a father to our seven-year-old son. A son that now has to face the reality of never seeing his father again."

It is yet to be confirmed whether Cheryl, who parted ways with Liam in 2018, will attend his funeral or if she will bring their son Bear.

Liam fell to his death in Argentina on October 16. Three people have been charged in connection to his death.

Earlier this month, prosecutors issued a statement revealing that the unnamed men are now under formal investigation for allegedly abandoning someone who later died and for providing and facilitating drugs. One of the individuals is described as someone who "routinely accompanied Liam during his stay in Buenos Aires."
