Strictly and EastEnders star complains Pete Wicks 'should have gone' before Wynne Evans

Former Strictly Come Dancing star Natalie Cassidy has shared that, in her opinion, Pete Wicks should have left the competition last week instead of Wynne Evans. The Welsh singer was sent home after the judges decided to save Montell Douglas, following the dance-off.

After ending up at the bottom of the leaderboard and receiving a meagre four out of 10 from judge Craig Revel Horwood, 36 year old Pete was surprised to be kept on by the public's votes.

During the Off The Telly podcast, Cassidy attributed Pete's success to his devoted fans, while taking a jab at his dancing skills: "I do think Pete should've gone before him [Wynne]," to which co-star Joanna Page agreed. She elaborated on the subject, saying: "I'm just talking now about dancing, I mean I'm not a professional dancer, but Pete knows that."

Observing Pete's reaction to being saved, Natalie said: "Did you see Pete's face? Bless his heart! He genuinely could not believe that he was still in."

She added he seemed almost ashamed to remain in the contest. Adding her thoughts, Gavin and Stacey actress Joanna commented on the quality of his performance: "That dance, it wasn't as good as his one last week, that dance, I don't think that was very good."

Agreeing with Joanna, Natalie suggested that despite the mediocre performance, Pete's endearing personality and notably the pink trousers he wore during his Cha Cha with dance partner Jowita Przystal might have swayed viewers.

The reality star embraced the theme with gusto, initially posing as a tram inspector before dramatically revealing his pink shirt and snug PVC trousers. The judges awarded the raunchy routine a total of 27 out of 40 points, delivering a range of critiques.

Head judge Shirley Ballas found the performance unforgettable, commenting: "I don't think I'll forget this evening for as long as I live."

Motsi Mabuse confessed to Pete that she "loved it for all the wrong reasons" but noted she "wished the dancing had supported it". Meanwhile, the typically stern Craig remarked: "You fought the dance, un-coordinated, behind the beat, bent leg but huge fun."

Looking ahead, the pair will be taking on a Tango to Phil Collins' 'Easy Lover' this weekend.
