Strictly Come Dancing professional suffers 'wardrobe malfunction' during live final

by · DevonLive

During the live final of Strictly Come Dancing, professional dancer Vito Coppola encountered a rather awkward moment.

While Vito and his dance partner, celebrity Sarah Hadland, were performing their routine, there was noticeable trouble as Vito was forced to hold together his trousers.

Host Tess Daly quickly addressed the situation by asking "Are you ok Vito?" and followed up with concerns over his decency, "We have a wardrobe issue. Are you able to maintain your decency?" all while Sarah cleverly used her costume to help shield him.

Despite the slip-up, Tess didn't let it overshadow their performance, complimenting them, "That aside - that was absolutely magical. We will never tire of those lifts. Your first dance of the final."

Head Judge Shirley Ballas provided her feedback, overlooking the clothing calamity: "There might have been a trouser malfunction but there was no malfunction with the routine. That was absolutely superb. It's kind of extraordinary for me because when I met you for those few hours in the studio, I gave you so many things to think about. And you remembered everything!"

Judge Motsi Mabuse joyously expressed she was "very happy" with what they delivered, whilst Anton Du Beke, another panel judge, spoke highly of the couple's on-stage presence, "You're so captivating. You're as clean as a whistle."

Before going into the finale, Sarah reflected on her personal journey throughout the competition, reports the Mirror.

"That I can push myself a lot harder than I thought I could and I'm capable of much more than I thought I was. The reaction I've had from women has been amazing which I wasn't expecting," she said.

"I've had some really quite tearful interactions with women, which has really shocked me. You're not out and about much when you're doing Strictly, but the few times where I have been the reaction has been amazing. I definitely didn't enter the show with any realisation that would happen. It's really weird how it's happened because I didn't think of myself like that. Then I realise, I am 53, 20 years older than Vito, and I am doing what he's doing. I hope that my just doing it has inspired people to think they can do it."

When questioned on his own takeaways from the experience, Vito added: "I've learned that there is always a good way, if you find the right key you can get the best from the person you have in front of you.

"I am happy and proud when I see what Trilly learns in less than one week, more than when I dance myself. I'm definitely learning lots of British culture too. Lots of British cuisine, which I'm appreciating even more. I've learned to drink and make British tea, which at the beginning of the season, I said it's never going to happen, and now I like it."
