Laura Hamilton on 'emotional moments' on A Place in the Sun as she helps friends buy dream home
by Katherine Palmer · DevonLiveThe popular property series 'A Place in the Sun' has made its return to Channel 4, and presenter Laura Hamilton shared that the show can often be an "emotional" journey not just for the participants, but for the presenters too. In one touching episode, lifelong pals of fifty years, Jan and Chris, travelled to Almeria, Spain, with a considerable family in tow - their combined brood includes six children and five grandchildren, necessitating at least a three-bedroom home.
Speaking exclusively, Laura reflected on the task: "It was trying to find something that would please everyone."
Noting the distinctiveness of each house hunt, she expressed: "Every episode is completely unique, everyone's stories are different that was an unusual one as normally you would have a couple. But this was two best friends and it was a nice scenario because I guess it makes people realise, who are considering buying a home abroad, it might not necessarily be something you can do with your partner, it can be with your friends as well."
Laura also opened up about the emotional impact of her role, stating: "You feel honoured to be a part of a life-changing thing for people. It gets emotional for the presenters as well as the house hunters."
In terms of staying connected with those she has helped on the show, Laura revealed her continued involvement: "I send regular texts to find out how they are getting on. When I go back to various locations to film I will meet up with them if I can, for a drink."
Away from the camera, Laura enjoys her own getaway in Mallorca, where she has undertaken a renovation project for her holiday home.
"It's definitely a place I'm very fond of," she expressed. "I have always loved everything about it, it's family-friendly, it has great beaches, it's got vineyards, the architecture... it's just really beautiful."
On social media, her excitement was palpable as she announced: "I'm so excited that next week I will be completing on and getting the keys to my very own place in the sun, a holiday home in Mallorca."
She also shared her anticipation for a new venture, saying: "Whilst I've renovated 19 projects in the UK, this will be my first renovation overseas... and I'm completely out of my comfort zone. It's going to be an interesting process and I can't wait for the challenge."
Laura, who is known for her Mile Fly Club podcast featuring star-studded guests, mentioned her engaging conversations with celebrities such as Kimberly Wyatt, Bradley Walsh and Jake Quickendon.
She disclosed an amusing tidbit about Bradley Walsh, revealing: "He's got a house in Portugal so it was great to talk about enjoying a cup of tea and a few biscuits on a Sunday morning watching A Place in the Sun. He's a fab guy."
Beyond television, Laura is deeply invested in health, fitness, fashion, and home inspiration, regularly sharing advice on how to juggle family life with business commitments.
