From dinosaurs to chicken auctions as Bampton Fair delights all ages

by · DevonLive

The Bampton Charter Fair, now in its 766th year, welcomed locals and visitors alike for another fantastic day of festivities on Thursday (October 31). With over 100 stalls lining the streets, this year’s event brought together the community for a day filled with unique attractions, live entertainment, and traditional charm.

Lucy Bull, one of the event organisers said: “We couldn’t be happier with the turnout this year. Seeing the community come together and watching families enjoy themselves makes all the hard work worthwhile. We’d like to thank everyone who attended, the vendors, and our incredible team of volunteers who made it possible. Each year, we’re committed to keeping the spirit of Bampton Charter Fair alive, and this year was truly special.”

This year’s fair included a variety of attractions for all ages. Stalking the streets and entertaining families of all ages were Rexy and Diablos – two cheeky dinos from Raptors World, intent on causing a commotion! Chloe Marie Aston, also known as “Piano Bike Girl” entertained the crowds throughout the streets.

Back by popular demand, the much-loved chicken auction drew a lively crowd at noon, and Bampton Players delighted audiences with their traditional performance of “The Mummers Play.” The Kids’ Zone, hosted by Bampton School PTFA, was a huge hit with younger visitors, offering face painting, glitter tattoos, Punch and Judy shows, and many other fun activities.

Rupert White, Chairman of the Fair committee added: “The team worked incredibly hard to ensure a memorable event. We’ve had a record number of stall bookings this year, and seeing so many visitors enjoying everything from food and craft stalls to live entertainment is what makes this all worth it.

“We’re grateful for the community’s support and thrilled to see the fair’s traditional elements thriving again, especially after the challenges of the past few years. We’ve been listening intently to the feedback from this year and whilst I can’t reveal too much yet, we’re excited that next year’s fair is going to really light up imaginations.”
